Visionect was founded in 2007 by three young researchers: economist Matej Zalar, computer scientist Luka Birsa and electrical engineer Rok Zalar. They spotted a market opportunity in the niche of software and hardware development of digital displays based on e-paper technology.

The main Visionect development and marketing assets are an innovative, technologically sophisticated and market tested platform that drives interactive e-paper-based digital displays. It also offers proprietary products: PDAs based on this platform such as Geoffrey, for use in catering and Joan, used for space reservation and occupancy marking of meeting and conference rooms.

In 2008, Visionect was the finalist for Slovenian Startup of the Year award!
