Today and tomorrow, the leader of the Initiative Start:up Slovenia, Matej Rus, will attend a two-day event of the European Commission, where we will contribute our share to designing effective policies and measures for supporting startups and entrepreneurship ecosystems, and lay the foundation for the European Start-up Manifesto 2.0. The event is also designed to officially launch the European Startup Network (ESN), a member of which is also the Initiative Start:up Slovenia.

How to support startups in the scale-up stage

Under the auspices of the European Commission and the European Startup Network, the event Start-up and Scale-up Seminar is taking place in Brussels on 6 and 7 September. At the event, high European representatives, such as Guenther Oettinger, the European commissioner for digital economy and society, Elżbieta Bieńkowska, the European commissioner for internal market, industry, entrepreneurship and SMEs, and Kristin Schreiber, director for COSME Programme and SME policies, will have a discussion with European Startup Network representatives about how to support startups in the scale-up stage, how to connect ecosystems that we need, and develop best practices that ensure their faster growth and success.

Launch of the European Startup Network

The event is also designed to officially launch the European Startup Network (ESN), a member of which is also the Initiative Start:up Slovenia. Amongst ESN’s key tasks is regular and expert implementation of studies, such as the European Startup Monitor, which support European legislative procedure, encouragement of international go-to-market programmes, and building strong national startup ecosystems.

Brochure and infographic: Slovenia, The Land of Startups

At this opportunity, the Initiative collaborated with its partners and supporters to publish a brochure and infographic entitled Slovenia, The Land of Startups, showing and summarizing the most active stakeholders, programmes and achievements of the Slovenian startup ecosystem in the past three years. You can find the infographic and the brochure ”Slovenia, The Land of Startups” here.

Placing Slovenia on the map of established European startup hubs

“In the Initiative, we are extremely proud that Slovenia has more and more actors and excellent public and private initiatives for supporting startup companies in their most critical stages of development and growth. But most of all I am glad that we are proactively connecting amongst ourselves and participate in building a strong and unified national startup ecosystem. This will help us place our country on the map of established European startup hubs together,” said Matej Rus, leader of the Initiative Start:up Slovenia, at this opportunity.
