ZaroTrays, a solution presented by the ZeroDays team that consists of a comprehensive system to simplify the process of shopping without packaging. This saves retailers time and money by eliminating the need to assist customers with their shopping, while making it much faster and more attractive to customers, and resulting in much less plastic waste being disposed of in the environment. How does it all work? The ZeroTrays smart tray is placed on any store scale and connected to it electronically. When a food container is placed on it, the tray reads the RFID chip and checks how much the empty container weighs via a wireless connection in the online system. The tray then commands the scale to set the appropriate value, which means weighing only the contents of the container and printing the weight on a slip. Unlike the competition, ZeroTrays can be used with any in-store weighing scale, while giving the customer complete autonomy over the whole process.
