We have received 63 applications for Master of Start:ups

Day 30. October 2013 posted Stanislava Vabšek

63 business groups and start-up companies, working mostly in information and mobile technologies, had applied to the national intensive entrepreneurship educational programme Master of Start:ups.

For ensuring adequate quality, the organisers will go through all applications and carefully pick 15 teams who fulfil application conditions, then start with the five-week training for building global entrepreneurial companies on November 13th 2013. The chosen teams included in the Master of Start:ups programmes will, according to application conditions, show innovativeness of the idea, technology, global ambitions, a committed and enthusiastic team, and a MVP.

All other companies and business groups will be invited to participate in national programmes Start:up Geek House, Start:up of the Year and Go:Global Slovenia. On the basis of personal interviews and the current phase of the development of the business idea and ambitions, the teams will be included into the most suitable programme. In the programmes mentioned above, the teams will have all support of the partners of the Initiative Start:up Slovenia when they will further develop their business ideas. They will also have the option of participating in the Master of Start:ups in the future.

“The number of applications shows an increase in interest for building start-up companies following modern approaches. We are happy with the diversity of the applied ideas as well as with the geographic coverage, as the teams come from all Slovenian regions. This has shown that partners of the start-up ecosystem can implement unified national programmes,” said Blaž Kos, leader of Start:up Geek House.

The latest knowledge in five weeks
The intensive five-week entrepreneurship programme Master of Start:ups encompasses the entire spectrum of the latest knowledge from the field of building start-up companies, following the so called lean start-up and business model generation methodologies.

The modularly designed programme clearly presents the theoretical foundations as well as offers the participants practical work on the development of their business idea. The programme is subsidized, which is why participation is free. It is intended for all innovative companies that have global ambitions and wish to build their start-up companies following the latest methodologies.

Advantages of the programme:
  • The tools are simply and clearly presented, meaning no prior knowledge of entrepreneurship is necessary
  • The programme is intended for all knowledge-based companies, not only for those of the “silicon valley IT” type
  •  The content sets include a comprehensive overview of methodologies, traditional as well as state-of-the-art
  • Participation in the programme enables taking advantage of the entire spectrum of contents of the national ecosystem
  • We help the programme participants obtain grants (P2) and other financing sources
  • In collaboration with the programme Go:Global Slovenia, programme participants also get a mentor
  • The participants will be able to use the Start:up Geek House co-working space for three months entirely free of charge
  • The programme is subsidized.

The programme is carried out by the Initiative Start:up Slovenia
Master of Start:ups runs within the programme Start:up Geek House, which is implemented by the members of the Initiative Start:up Slovenia. Through the programme, the members are implementing measures from the strategic document for the business breakthrough of Slovenia – the Start:up Manifesto. The companies included into the programme implementation in this year and the next can obtain free service via the INO project and the programme of the university incubator that is co-financed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, and Public Agency SPIRIT Slovenia.
