We are looking for Slovenian winners of Imagine Cup! Application deadline January 30th!

You have time until January 30th 2015 to apply for the local selection of this year’s Imagine Cup competition. An unforgettable experience, attractive rewards, an international network of connections, obtaining references and having a lot of fun are the reasons why you should participate in this biggest global student competition. 



Prizes worth a million dollars, an unforgettable experience at the world finals in Redmond, USA, a possibility of a career breakthrough and obtaining references are only some of the reasons why it’s worth it to participate at the largest student tech competition in the world – Imagine Cup! In 2013, the Slovenian team ADORA (on the photo) from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Maribor placed second in the category “Innovations”, which is the best Slovenian placement in the history of the competition. They were the first Slovenian team to receive the monetary support of Imagine Cup Grants in the amount of 50,000 USD, meant for further implementation and development of the idea. 

 

Registering the idea and the team until January 30th

Student teams can register their idea in one of the three categories (“Games”, “Innovation” and “World Citizenship”) on the www.imaginecup.si website until January 30th. Amongst all the registered teams, the best ten will attend the idea accelerator ITIME at the start of February and then compete for victory in the Slovenian local selection on April 9th. In order to get to the prestigious world finals in Redmond, the Slovenian teams will additionally have to convince the semi-finals committee, which will evaluate the applications from all across the world online in the month of June to pick those teams that will attend the prestigious world finals. The latter will take place in July in Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, USA.

 

 

O Imagine Cupu

Imagine Cup is an international competition in the field of innovativeness, tech solutions and development, at which students of higher education institutions from all across the world participate. Students participate in teams that represent an individual faculty or a group of faculties. In the period before the competition and the final selection, they are accompanied and guided by mentors from the academic and economic sphere, specifically chosen for this purpose. In accordance with best practice, students are encouraged to form multidisciplinary teams and network between faculties, as well as to connect with economic players. The company is part of Microsoft YouthSpark’s initiative.
