ERGO Group AG, one of the leading European insurance groups, invested 300,000 EUR capital into the Slovenian-English startup Eurosender. Eurosender.com is a leading European web platform that enables you to send packages and boxes from door to door more simply, reliably and up to 70 % cheaper. Eurosender is present in 27 European countries and especially popular with emigrants and students as well as young companies, amongst which there are almost 5,000 regularly active and registered business users.

Two investors

Two investors actually entered the young innovative startup company Eurosender, led by Tim Potočnik and Jan Štefe: 200,000 EUR was invested by the German insurance giant Ergo, while 100,000 EUR was invested by the Fil Rouge Capital fund.

How it works

The company combines inquiries from potential customers, such as emigrants or students, and small companies that need transport inside the European Union. Due to a big number of orders in big courier services such as DPF, GLS, UPS, Kuene + Nagel, and Chronopost, Eurosender gets lower prices that it offers to its users, together with a simple ordering system. Through the Eurosender portal, users carry out the order, while the transport is done by the chosen logistic partner.

Expansion

In the previous period, the company already gathered 350,000 EUR which enabled it to develop throughout the entire European Union, especially on the markets of Romania, Croatia and Portugal. ERGO Group AG invested fresh 300,000 EUR into the company, which will allow Eurosender to continue to expand inside the European Union and provide the users with an even better user experience.

ERGO is one of the biggest European insurance companies and part of the insurance group Munic RE, which made more than 50 billion euros of income. The ERGO group is otherwise very active in the startup world, is regularly collaborating with accelerators and searches for acquisition targets and attractive investments amongst young companies.

Staff reinforcements

Due to a rapid expansion, the company is employing new programmers and marketers, and a few months ago, they were also joined by a new operations director Silvana Rodriguez A. – a lawyer and economist who studied at leading universities on three continents, including the famous Harvard. She also gathered experience in famous lawyer offices, in United Nations and German startup Kreditch, which obtained more than 100 million EUR of investments in three years. Her experiences will significantly contribute to further successes of the Slovenian Eurosender.
