American Outbrain acquired the Slovenian startup pioneer Zemanta!

Day 25. July 2017

[NEW YORK, TEL AVIV, LJUBLJANA, 25 July 2017] Outbrain, the biggest global platform for premium content discovery, announced today that it acquired the Slovenian high-tech startup company Zemanta. Zemanta, now with headquarters in New York, was established in 2007 in Ljubljana by students Boštjan Špetič and Andraž Tori. Zemanta’s DPS (Demand Side Platform) is used by several dozen globally known advertising agencies as the chosen platform for automatically leasing native advertising. Their platform will continue its path as an independent web service even after Outbrain’s acquisition, but the companies’ merger is irreversibly changing the advertising landscape. Zemanta’s tech solutions and Outbrain’s Interest Graph will enable native advertising to replace display advertising as the biggest part of the digital advertising cake.

By using Zemanta’s platform, advertisers and agencies buy advertising space in the biggest collection of native advertising opportunities in the world, consisting of more than fifty native advertising networks, including the biggest providers such as Yahoo, Facebook and Outbrain. With a user-friendly interface and robust API’s, Zemanta presents an unsurpassed advertising reach and automation of reaching business goals, which means it is a natural addition to Outbrain’s offer. The acquisition will enable Zemanta to grow their business with existing customers – brands, agencies and publishers – and offer accelerated global expansion.
