Andraž Gavez: Between wind, cooking, and startup shifts

Day 16. June 2025 posted Anemari Pediček

Andraž Gavez is a startup mentor who knows how to get a product to the customer — especially when it comes to food. His expertise spans online sales, food production and distribution, and he also advises on remote work, team leadership, and brand building.

For those who know him only professionally, it may come as a surprise that Andraž was once the national youth champion in Magic: The Gathering. He still swears by strategic thinking, which he honed through card battles and now channels into entrepreneurship. He's also a hobby paragliding pilot — a passion that aligns perfectly with his favorite superhero answer: if he could choose a superpower, he’d fly like Superman.

When he’s not immersed in business challenges, you’ll find him chasing the wind: kiteboarding, paragliding, or riding his motorcycle. All three give him a sense of freedom and space to reflect. He doesn’t dwell much on doubt: “I don’t let it get to me. By nature, I’m quite an optimistic person,” he says.

In life, he makes no compromises when it comes to relationships and trust. To him, that’s the foundation of everything: it either exists — or it doesn’t.

As a child, he was in love with football, but today, he says cooking is what relaxes him the most.

Asked about the biggest win of his mentoring career, he modestly replies: “Every year brings new ones.” But if he had to name one turning point, it would be securing a first investment and transitioning to full-time work in his own company — the moment when everything truly began.

He looks to the future with curiosity. He believes artificial intelligence is a trend that won’t fade and will greatly shape the future of entrepreneurship. He’s currently exploring the field and already regularly uses the Gemini 2.5 Pro tool to assist with his daily work.

Andraž is a mentor who thinks strategically, acts practically, and stays true to his values. With his directness, entrepreneurial mindset, and a healthy dose of optimism, he helps startups see the bigger picture — and also where it’s time to roll up their sleeves. Whether on the wind, in the kitchen, or between the lines of a sales strategy, he always brings an authentic approach and a clear sense of what truly matters.
